A propos de l'entreprise:
De VREG werd opgericht in december 2001 als Vlaamse Openbare Instelling in het kader van de vrijmaking van de Vlaamse elektriciteits- en gasmarkt. In het kader van de oefening “beter bestuurlijk beleid” werden we in 2006 omgevormd tot een publiekrechtelijk extern verzelfstandigd agentschap met rechtspersoonlijkheid (EVA), onder toezicht van de Vlaamse minister bevoegd voor het energiebeleid.
Sinds februari 2017 zijn we een autonome dienst met rechtspersoonlijkheid, die onder toezicht staat van het Vlaams Parlement. Dit toezicht van het Vlaams Parlement bestaat eruit dat het Vlaams Parlement de leden van de Raad van Bestuur aanstelt, er hoorzittingen zullen gehouden worden in het Vlaams Parlement over het ontwerp van ondernemingsplan en de begroting van de VREG en dat het Vlaams Parlement de Vlaamse begroting goedkeurt, waaronder dus ook onze begroting. Daarbij mag de VREG, noch zijn bestuurders, noch zijn personeelsleden, bij de uitoefening van zijn taken en bevoegdheden als regulator, instructies van het Vlaams Parlement vragen of ontvangen, noch van iedere andere publieke of particuliere entiteit, en dit overeenkomstig artikel 3.1.1 van het Energiedecreet.
Onze taken, bevoegdheden, werking en bestuur zijn geregeld in hoofdstuk I van titel III van het Energiedecreet.
Onze werking wordt gefinancierd via een dotatie uit het Energiefonds, dat op zijn beurt gespijsd wordt door de Vlaamse Energieheffing die aangerekend wordt op uw elektriciteitsfactuur.
