The Sn. Testing and Diagnostic ME will define and implement general assembly in-process or end-of-line requirements, methods and equipment for the testing and calibration of vehicles, working in close collaboration with Product Development (Vehicle Design, Software and Integration teams), Quality and Production, both for new launches and existing products, providing regular, metric-based project updates to management team.
He/she shall be an expert to deep dive into testing procedures and the related software and hardware equipment integrated in the plants’ production system, considering the application innovative technologies as AI, digital instrumentation, vision guidance and inspection.
Compile and keep up to date, in coordination with Product Engineering and Validation, programming and test specifications for new vehicle models and verify/align existing models to latest standards ensuring availability and capability of the equipment.
Lead development of testing hardware and software with suppliers during vehicle design and prototyping ensuring timely delivery to vendors of inputs and specification of systems
Lead equipment selection, procurement, installation and commissioning at the assembly sites.
Optimize vehicle tests in collaboration with other functions in terms of cost and productivity
Drive investigations for process issues leading to test failures and ensure all issues are fed back upstream and driven to resolution, including mitigation and permanent solution.
Effectively support the development of other resources (both at plants and in the central team) by training and coaching allowing them to grow in terms of both technical know-how and autonomy.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, or Automotive or related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in the subject matter field.
5-7 years work with at least 5 years in automotive or related manufacturing environment, with demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems and deliver solutions. Capital project execution and project management experience
Solid know-how in vehicle testing systems, communication protocols, programming and diagnostic tools including industrial safety concepts (e.g. Machinery Directive, ergonomics)
Knowledge of WCM or similar production systems; application of problem-solving techniques and project management from design to production. (e.g. Design and Process FMEAs).
Solid working knowledge of standard computer applications (e.g. MS Office) and modelling software (Tcae, Solidworks, Catia, Proplanner); Data analytics and Programming experience preferred
Diligent at documenting issues, with a passion for process improvement and innovative solutions
Effective communication and project presentation capacity, time management ability
Available to travel up to 50% of the time
Language: can speak and write fluent technical English. Another EU language is preferred.
