Project Procurement Coordinator

As a Project Procurement Coordinator you will play a key role in the preparation and execution of our Dredging projects. You will be the first point of contact for the project for any procurement related matter from tender to execution and you will arrange for pro-active involvement of the procurement organization in the project. You will make sure that all procurement knowledge (e.g. processes, tools, expertise) is available and clear to all project members, and will take the lead of an internal Cross Functional Team that consists of different disciplines (Engineering, QHSE, Legal, Finance and Tendering, among others).

  • Be the link between the project team and the DEME procurement department;
  • follow and apply the DEME Procurement methodology and templates as defined by the Group Procurement Director;
  • leverage available framework agreements made by Category Managers;
  • responsible for strategic sourcing of items outside the defined categories within DEME procurement dept with focus on TCO optimization;
  • execute medium value spot buys;
  • coordinate procurement activities for (an) assigned project(s);
  • organizing the procurement kick-off meeting and regular procurement follow-up meetings with the project team;
  • draft the Project Procurement Plan (containing i.e. roles & responsibilities, approval flows, Project Procurement List, etc.);
  • being owner of the Project Procurement List, follow up (e.g. timing, budget) and take action when necessary;
  • steer the Local Purchase Representatives;
  • support the setup of the transactional procurement channels either via HQ or locally;
  • ensuring timely involvement of the relevant Category Managers;
  • ensuring the procurement procedures and processes are being followed using the right systems & tools.
  • Bachelor or Master degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, Dredging or Marine Engineering;
  • Preferably 3 years of experience with procurement within large (installation) projects;
  • advanced level in Excel;
  • numerate and analytical;
  • willingness to work in the office and abroad, at project sites;
  • fluent in verbal and written English;
  • excellent team player and a good communicator, able to deal with different levels, both internal and external.
