Global Portfolio Director - Enzymes


Kemin's Global Portfolio Directors leads a groups of key business product portfolio “Global Strategic Portfolios” dedicated to a focus on accelerating their portfolio's growth across multiple business units and geographies. Reporting to the Group President, they work with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to drive profitable business growth and establish intense collaboration with business unit stakeholders to deliver sales and gross margin targets according to global and regional strategic plans. This position works closely with Sales and Marketing teams to achieve gross margin budgets, and market share goals, while ensuring worldwide standards. In addition, the GPD is critical in leading the product innovation process in partnership with R&D in new product development and life cycle management of their portfolios.

The ideal candidate will possess exemplary skills in collaboration and business acumen. The ability to take input from all stakeholders while creating a strategy that reaches Kemin's global and regional targets is key. A leader who emphasizes approachability, humility, and execution will find great success in this role. Extensive experience working with enzymes is required.

This position can be located at our offices in the United States (Des Moines), Belgium (Herentals), or Italy (Veronella). This position can also be performed remotely as long as the employee is able to easily travel
to our headquarters regularly.

  • Responsibilities

  • Leverage strong leadership, selling and persuasive skills in collaboration with BU Presidents to achieve sales and gross margin of the assigned global product portfolio, which will contribute 10% to 20% of Kemin’s total sales and gross margins over the next 5 years
  • Lead market analysis including key market trends, regulatory analysis, competitors and customers deep dive to identify common opportunities and challenges, translate these insights into global and regional strategic plans, and ensure that sales and operating expense budgets align with the strategic planning targets
  • Lead global product launches with detailed business plans and financial targets aligned with cross-BU teams, which will include opportunities for new products entering new markets and regions, as well as existing products rolled out to new markets and regions.
  • Lead the consolidated product lifecycle planning and management which will result in strategic targets for product and service development in collaboration with R&D, and cross-functional teams. The lifecycle management will also give key strategic direction related to entry and exit of markets and segments, segmentation, branding, positioning and pricing.
  • Work closely with cross-BU sales and marketing teams to drive global key account business development and achieve the agreed sales and gross margin targets
  • Align the long-term business plan with resource requirements through scenario planning for capital expense and operating expense commitments while ensuring efficient resource utilization
  • Possess deep technical knowledge of products and stay current with industry advancements, scientific research and regulatory requirements
  • Work with cross-functional teams to conduct financial and forecasting analysis to support strategic decision-making and resource allocation
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including BU Presidents, Marketing, Sales and R&D to achieve objectives, and create a culture to develop a motivated, highly focused and engaged team to grow the portfolios
  • Work closely with WWAL teams to identify and develop strategic alliances and acquisition targets for the product portfolios
  • Qualifications

  • Education & Experience requirements: Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or Life Sciences with 15+ years experience, ORMaster's degree in Business, Marketing, or Life Sciences field with 10+ years experience
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience working wtih enzymes 
  • Excellent communication, presentation and persuasion skills.
  • Strong leadership and ability to influence key stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Strong financial savvy and business acumen.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet gross margin budgets, while developing and executing long-term business objectives
  • Significant experience in managing large complex programs with multiple customers and functions at a global level
  • Experience leading, coaching, developing high performing, highly motivated and engaged team
  • Desire to drive change and continuous improvement.
