Job description:
The Customer Quality Engineer ensures that all concerns are properly directed to appropriate personnel expeditiously which includes overseeing customer onsite Quality Liaison’s and their activities. The role continuously improves the customer concern response system for continued customer satisfaction improvement, facilitates/coordinates data and product analysis with Business Teams for determination of failure modes, and coordinates with/mentors Business Teams to determine proper containment activities at customer, product in transit, product in inventory and containment of ongoing production. The position coordinates supplier response with Supplier Quality Engineering on customer concerns, provides correspondence and reports to the customer for updates and closure to quality concerns.
Responsibilities:
Build strong, working relationships with major customer stakeholders and in-house development teams to ensure complete and transparent communication and support
Investigate reports of defective, damaged or malfunctioning parts, assemblies, equipment or systems to determine nature and scope of problem that the customer is experiencing
Initiate containment of stock at all locations and prevent further substandard production
Examine, measure, inspect and/or test defective parts
Perform regular product audit
Evaluate findings to formulate corrective action plan and coordinate implementation
Monitor and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to adhere to process and prevent occurrence of any non-conformity relating to product, process or system
Keep up with current and developing manufacturing and engineering trends that concern the customer’s product
Quality control of work by appropriate reviews
Record and track product quality issue with Lear and customer quality tracking systems
Actively participate to problem solving activities together with sister plants
Assist the Quality Manager in driving and promoting production and process changes through continual improvement activities
Assist with training of quality awareness for plant staff
Helps define and achieve the yearly Quality targets
Helps to develop and continuously improve the Quality processes
Undertake special projects as required
Support Quality & EHS manager in management systems duties
Guidance and Communication
Liaise and communicate with: Own management Customer management External service support (3rd part company) Lear Anderlecht other departments, and service providers Shop floor staff
Provide technical support to internal departments to maintain and improve product quality and management system
Participate in cross-functional teams in the development of new products or changes related to current products in meeting customer requirements

Knowledge of Quality Customer Specific Requirements (in this case, Volkswagen Group CSR’s)
Knowledge:
Bachelor degree in Engineering or an Engineering related field is preferred
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive
Minimum 2 years’ experience in quality, preferably automotive with knowledge of 8D process, MSA, SPC and Control Plan
Basic knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001, ISO 45001
Experience of dealing with customers and suppliers
Good command of MS Office tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Word). Experience with MS Access and PowerBI are assets
Languages: fluency in English and French. German and Dutch are assets
