Het UZ Gent is met ruim 3000 patiënten per dag en meer dan 6000 medewerkers een van de grootste en meest gespecialiseerde ziekenhuizen in Vlaanderen.
Patiënten kunnen er terecht voor een volledig aanbod van hooggespecialiseerde, kwalitatieve zorg. Het ziekenhuis beschikt hiervoor over uitgebreide voorzieningen en meer dan 1000 bedden voor eendaagse en meerdaagse opnamen.
In de zorgverlening staan kwaliteit en klantvriendelijke dienstverleningcentraal.
Als universitair centrum investeert het UZ Gent ook in wetenschappelijk onderzoeken opleiding. Daarvoor werkt het ziekenhuis nauw samen met deFaculteit Geneeskunde en Gezondheidswetenschappen van de Universiteit Gent. Artsen en artsen-specialisten worden er opgeleid en onderzoekers werken in tal van diensten aan nieuwe technieken voor diagnostiek en behandeling.
De ziekenhuiscampus wordt momenteel ingrijpend verbouwd. Het UZ wil tegen 2020 een moderne, toegankelijke en duurzame Health Campus zijn die beantwoordt aan de noden van alle gebruikers.
