Feature Engineer - Solutions Architect

A day in the life of a Feature Engineer

● You are the grease in the cooperation between IT and Business stakeholders recognizing the correlation / dependencies between their activities.

● You drive to make complex changes or projects happen within and across Tribes. Your holistic view as well as your knowledge of both Business and IT are crucial in the translation of business requirements in a sequence that delivers customer value as early as possible.

● You define and align the roadmaps between squads – from same or different Tribes – and other parts of the organization and thoroughly manage dependencies.

● You are the connecting pin between colleagues having different expertise in self-steering teams (squads). Your colleagues will be Feature Engineers, Architects, Product Owners or Squad Masters, Developers, Customer Journey Experts, etc.

● You are a driver of the solution approach (together with squads) using in-depth knowledge of Business and IT such as architecture, application landscapes, infrastructure, business operations and legislation.

How to succeed

We hire smart people like you for your potential. Our biggest expectation is that you’ll stay curious. Keep learning. Take on responsibility. In return, we’ll back you to develop into an even more awesome version of yourself.

Be a Solution Architect

● You are able to translate new product / service needs into an IT blueprint and are able to grasp business opportunities from new technology solutions. You think and act globally.

● Together with relevant stakeholders (Architects, Epic Owners, Product Owners), you develop features in an interactive way along the lines of the implementation roadmaps and IT blueprints. You can slice and refine these roadmaps to the level of concrete tasks to be picked up by the squads.

● You follow the market and know what is going on, both inside and outside ING. From your understanding of the latest developments in the Business and Technology, you propose structural improvements aimed at moving your domain - processes and applications - closer to target solutions to offer an industry-leading customer experience.

Making things as an Integrator

● You are comfortable with collaboration and reaching out across Tribes and functional borders and serve as liaison when needed. You easily connect and align stakeholders within all levels of the ING organization, from IT Lead to IT engineer and from Tribe Lead to internal ING user, all with the ING customer journey in mind.

● You are able to implement changes in an end-to-end context covering all functional and non-functional aspects in close collaboration with multiple teams.

● You demonstrate understanding of IT concepts and have significant knowledge of the IT landscape. You guide and challenge the development engineers when making implementation choices.

As a Feature Engineer, you will have the opportunity to:

● Contribute actively in INGs strategic goals and objectives on a daily basis.

● Work with likeminded colleagues from who you will learn a lot of their experience.

● Have the opportunity to further increase your knowledge by attending both internal or external training opportunities.

● Demonstrate your value and grow within the organisation.

● Have the ability to work on a mix of change/project initiatives.

The team

The team of Feature Engineers is the grease in the machine. They are part of Tech BE Channels working together with numerous stakeholders being at the heart of the delivery of Features within the Tribes.

We are the go to team driving and bringing speed in the different changes & projects.
