Functional Job Description – Project Manager Congo
Reports to : Operations Manager
Supervises : Assigned Staff
Basic Function
Management of specific projects for Congo. Directs and controls Party Chief to ensure project is executed in accordance with procedures and to Client’s specifications.
1. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
1.1 Operations
a) Assist Operations Manager in project organisation
b) Establish project procedures and budgets
c) Check specific safety requirement for project
d) Brief Party Chief and survey team
e) Ensure project is executed to client specifications
f) Liaise with clients
g) Monitor performance
h) Check and approve contract variation
i) Check field expenses
j) Allocate resources
1.2 Specific Additional Duties
a) Actively participate in adherence to and improvement of the company Management System on Quality and HSE related issues
b) If applicable, provide project safety plan
c) Conduct project briefing including project specific HSE subjects
d) Identify use of additional PPE
e) Instruct field staff on emergency procedures
f) Instruct field staff on accident / incident reporting. Ensure appropriate investigation of reported incidents
g) When applicable, be available for temporary substitution of other positions in the company
h) Implementation of Company Policy
2. Principal Working Relationships
a) Inform Operations Manager about on-going projects
b) Liaise with Party Chief and senior field staff about project execution and progress
c) Liaise with Tender Estimators on project requirements and advise on technical aspects for tenders d) Inform Data Management Manager on applicable project requirements
e) Instruct Technical Support staff, Logistics Manager and the Workshop Co-ordinator on requirements for projects
f) Inform Operations Assistant of required travel arrangements
g) This role is on a rotational basis
3. Education / Experience Requirements
a) M.Sc. or B.Sc. level in surveying or engineering
b) Min. 5 - 8 years’ experience in project management
c) Basic accounting principles
d) Conversant with equipment / software in use
e) English language
f) French language preferred
