Manufacturing Engineer

At our Lummen site, SABCA Limburg, we are specialized in the manufacturing of high-tech composite assemblies for aircraft. On the one hand, we produce integrated

skins for flaps and stabilizers using two automatic tape-layers and very large autoclaves and of course, our colleagues’ extended know-how. In cooperation with the

Engineering office in Brussels, SABCA Limburg is also responsible for the flap track fairings of several aircraft.

On the other hand, the Space industry is also present in this plant with the final system integration of Ariane and Vega assemblies.

Tasks:

  • Acts as an internal focal point for the manufacturing processes within its area of responsibility (composite lay-up, composite hotforming, stringer assembly);
  • Actively supports the operational departments to assure on time delivery to our customers;
  • Structured problem solving to eliminate quality issues;
  • Structured problem solving to optimise the process efficiency to reduce the operational cost;
  • Introduces, controls and maintains process monitoring to improve (cost, time, quality) the manufacturing processes;
  • Roll out of visual management on shopfloor within its area of responsibility;
  • Improve 5S within its area of responsibility;
  • Roll out of digital work instructions within its area of responsibility;
  • Reviews, evaluates and implements engineering changes and specification requirements;
  • Is accountable for up-to-date internal instructions and responsible for internal procedures within its area of responsibility;
  • Profile: 

  • Master of Science (Industrial or Civil Eng.) (Electro-Mechanics, Mechanics, Materials, Aviation/Space, …)
  • Min. 3 years of experience in production, engineering, manufacturing engineering
  • Experience with composites and composite manufacturing is a big plus
  • Experience in Aviation and Aerospace or Automotive is a plus
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of Lean tools: 5S, visual management, flow, value stream mapping, …is a plus
  • Knowledge of APQP/PPAP is a plus
  • Quality and result oriented with attention to detail
  • Fluent in Dutch and English
  • Experience with CAD software, preferrable Catia and Autocad
