Position Summary
Sibelco is currently hiring for multiple Field Engineer Mechanical roles who will be responsible for supporting the owner’s Project and Construction Managers with field civil, structural and mechanical installation oversight by interfacing between the construction and engineering teams. This role will also coordinate civil, structural and mechanical construction contractor activities on site, resolve design-related construction issues in a timely manner, improve construction productivity, manage pre-commissioning activities and support the commissioning and performance testing activities.
Responsibilities
Ensure timely resolution of identified design discrepancies to achieve construction quality and schedule objectives.
Assess potential corrective fixes and make recommendations for functional and reliable solutions to constructability issues.
Participate in factory quality inspections of major plant and equipment items.
Provide technical support and interpretation of design documents to contractor during construction by liaising with engineering and operations.
Ensure quality of civil, structural and mechanical works, participate in field inspections and quality acceptance tests.
Liaise with Operations on construction requirements and site-specific issues such as tie-in points, shutdown windows for construction activities, access to site services and laydown areas.
Actively manage interfaces between contractors to ensure smooth handover or integration of work fronts.
Improve site access and logistics, flow and staging of workforce, equipment and material to work fronts.
Qualifications
Civil, structural and mechanical construction experience in the heavy industry is preferred.
A Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, civil or other applicable engineering discipline is preferred.
Proficient in English. Other languages are an asset.
