The purpose of the role 

As a Strategic Account Director, you will play a crucial role in accelerating growth (value & market penetration) with defined brands in Food Processors (FP) in mainland Europe and UK&I. You will manage the relationships across countries, functions and different hierarchies. You will broaden our network within the local organizations and Head Offices in the European markets.

Responsibilities

  • Manage business development and customer relationships with new and existent Food Processors accounts:
  • Effective key account management; creating strong partnerships with relevant customer stakeholders. Co-ordinate all customer appointments, presentations and demonstrations alongside marketing and R&D functions. Manage all GF follow up, and ensure GF always remains relevant
  • Identify new opportunities within the customer’s business
  • Deliver price proposals, manage negotiations/tenders, seek to improve GF profit
  • Manage legal contracts, and price/volume/stock agreements
  • Collaborate and work alongside the sales, marketing and culinary leadership to define and execute the future strategic direction of the customer/item portfolio within GF
  • Manage projects & expectations of the customers while keeping in scope of GF strategy
  • Work on the customer’s specific details for documentation & process requirements
  • Sales Team working practices and Sales Process to include:
  • Manage all relevant internal relationships to enable delivery of commercial objectives e.g. Customer Care, Food Safety, Planning, R&D, Finance
  • Responsible for building and maintaining account plans across area of responsibility
  • Project management e.g. product development, cost reduction, cost improvement
  • Adhering to FP systems & processes while always seeking improvement
  • Sales forecasting, and collaborating with supply chain to deliver promotional volume
  • Building accurate price/volume proposals within Griffith Foods' target
  • Support Finance to achieve payment as contracted with the customer 
  • Support FP Segment Lead with ad hoc requests related to customers or internal requirements
  • Follow the market, competition and new developments and feedback to Griffith Foods
  • Ability to travel regularly to Griffith Foods office & customer sites across Europe
  • Proactively and visibly support the Health and Safety standards, rules and regulations of the organization
  • Be an ambassador for the Griffith Foods Purpose & Values
  • Requirements

  • Master’s degree preferably in Food Sciences, Business Administration, Economics or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Typically, this position would require a minimum of progressive 10 years' experience in sales within the Food industry and knowledge of global Food Processors brands
  • Launched new products with a customer
  • Fluency in English and other languages would be valuable.
  • Interpretation of numerical data e.g. financial P&L / to help win or defend business
  • In-depth knowledge of the food industry and market characteristics and trends
  • International experience is considered valuable
  • Understand food/packaging supply chains
  • Have worked independently and as a part of a team
  • Strong commercial acumen, ability to successfully negotiate
  • Strong verbal and written communication; communicates clearly using all mediums, doing so locally, regionally and globally
  • Competent working with senior management in the customer’s business
  • Think & act regional not local and awareness of cultural differences across Europe
  • Commercial savvy & gravitas
  • Strong ability to manage time and prioritise tasks, and naturally self-motivated
  • Creative problem solving
  • Creative food vision
  • Competent in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, managing online meetings
  • Driving License
