Simulation Engineer Powertrain Structural Dynamics

Job Description

The resident consultant engineer will be working within the e-Motor Design team as part of the Powertrain Engineering group at our client’s premises, and for the assigned project the main responsibilities will be:

  • Testing support: to define and conduct advanced modal testing experiments, experimentally identifying the key-contributors to a system’s structural dynamics.
  • Methodology development and evaluation tools: standardizing the virtual development process, develop new numerical methods and improve existing FE tools available in the group.
  • Model improvements: to accordingly modify existing e-drivetrain models, increasing functionality and prediction quality
  • Model validation & correlation: to link simulation and measurement data, evaluating the reliability of model and extracting the trends.
  • Data Analysis: analyze simulation & test data and draw conclusions.
  • Team support: take a role of expert in the field, contribute to the team overall outcome, support problem solving, collaborate with other evaluation/design/simulation team.
  • Preparation of technical report & presentations to update the project progress and main results.
  • Qualifications

    Profile:

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of structural dynamics and e-powertrain mechanics is a must.
  • Expertise in modal testing and numerical computing:Modal testing: defining and conducting modal testing campaigns.Numerical computing: creating numerical solutions by implementing algorithmsStructural analysis: application of Finite Element tools to predict structural dynamicsPowertrain dynamics: development and application of physical modelsDrivetrain contact mechanics: knowledge of contact mechanics and tribology
  • Experience in design of experiments is highly valuable.
  • Able to work in an independent way with an output minded mentality.
  • Pragmatic approach, comfortable with balancing prediction accuracy and computational cost/time.
  • Able to summarize and explain complex technical information in a clear and visual way.
  • Owner of a driving license is preferred.
  • Education

  • Master of Science (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering areas, with maximum 5-7 years of experience in the industry.
  • Languages

  • Fluent in English, German working proficiency is a plus.
  • Other languages will be an asset.
