About this job

We seek to appoint an enthusiastic intern to join the Digital economy & advanced technologies team. The recruited intern is expected to gain first-hand insights of a range of policy and technology areas, including Edge and Cloud Computing, Local Digital Twins (LDTs) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), and get a thorough introduction to various social sciences methodologies. Technopolis Group is leading or contributing to projects for the European Commission and national ministries/agencies on topics around AI, Edge/Cloud Computing, Smart Cities among others. The position implies working for projects for the EU institutions (such as primarily DG CNECT but potentially also DG JRC and DG GROW). English in working proficiency is a requirement.  

Your profile

  • Recently finalised university education or a student currently in the last year of a Master programme, for instance in public policy, computer science, IT, engineering, etc). 
  • Can do attitude and reliable; 
  • Interest in coordination and process work; 
  • Interest in event organisation, helpdesk support, stakeholder contact; 
  • Interest in the new developments in European Commission policies, including in one or more of the following: Smart Cities & LDTs; Computing (Edge, HPC), and AI; 
  • Acquainted with qualitative research methods (e.g. literature review, desk research, interviews, case studies, surveys) and intermediate quantitative methods; 
  • Positive attitude towards liaising with different stakeholders (i.e. companies, business associations, cluster associations and regional authorities); 
  • Attention to detail;  
  • Agile in a changing environment; 
  • Good coordination and communication skills; 
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word and Power Point; 
  • Full proficiency of English in speaking and writing mandatory. Knowledge of any other EU language is a plus; 
  • Ability to work in teams; 
  • Willingness to learn about new topics and methods, and gain new skills, including around technologies.

Your responsibilities

Support in ongoing projects, in tasks including: 

  • Conduct desk research on a specific topic, assist in literature reviews, and drafting case studies in topics related to Edge Computing, AI, LDTs and Smart Cities;  
  • Support in formating, layout and administrative tasks in projects (e.g. formatting of reports/studies and case studies); 
  • Contribute to the organisation of workshops and working groups, both online and on-site; 
  • Support for qualitative and quantitative data collection, cleaning and analysis; 
  • Support in data collection strategies and the collection process of data; possibly conduct data treatment and preliminary analysis; 
  • Support in developing and implementing surveys; 
  • Conduct interviews with stakeholders (for instance, ICT/IT firms, public sector organisations, academics); 
  • Support communication activities (monitoring the content, drafting articles, managing online content, contacting content sources, etc.).
