Overview

The E&I Engineer is responsible for the coordination of the development of the technical documentation of E&I equipment for projects from the award of an order to the provisional acceptance of the equipment. The E&I Engineer is particularly responsible for ensuring that the E&I documentation of the products in compliance with applicable codes and norms, contractual technical specifications, and internal standards as defined in the Design Process according to the QMS (quality management system) of the Energy Sector.

Objectives

The E&I Engineer is responsible for the E&I engineering of products during project execution under the hierarchical responsibility of the Head of Engineering with the following objectives:

  • Customer satisfaction.
  • Conformance to applicable codes and norms, contractual scope of supply, Customer’s technical specifications, internal standards, and local regulations.
  • Quality, conformity, and completeness of the technical documentation.
  • Respect of document delivery schedules.
  • Optimization of the design.
  • Control of internal and external interfaces.
  • Responsibilities

    The duties of the E&I Engineer include, but are not limited to:

  • Application of the Design Process.
  • Optimization of the design.
  • E&I engineering of products for projects of the Energy Sector of John Cockerill.
  • Development of power single line diagrams and wiring diagrams.
  • Issue of instrument, I/O, and consumer lists.
  • Writing of technical purchase specifications.
  • Issue of design data sheets.
  • Taking part to project meeting.
  • Participation in technical negotiations with Suppliers.
  • Possible involvement in Suppliers qualification process.
  • Conformity of the technical documentation to applicable codes and norms.
  • Respect of Customer specifications and requirements.
  • Technical risk assessments.
  • Application of standards and good practices.
  • Delivery of the technical documentation to the project teams according to the schedule and within the specified budget.
  • Promotion of quality, efficiency, and productivity to meet business objectives.
  • Profile

    The E&I Engineer has a specialist profile. They also feel comfortable with people and process management. They must be available for temporary missions, sometimes on short notice, including international travel.

    Key qualities and qualifications include:

  • Team spirit, assertiveness, creative and innovative, results oriented & problem-solving mindset.
  • Understanding of the basic design of the products of the Sector.
  • Knowledge on local and remote instrumentation.
  • Knowledge about low & medium voltage power distribution. High voltage power distribution is a plus.
  • Theorical knowledge of PLC as minimum.
  • Application of internal technical choices.
  • Understanding of the professional environment.
  • Understanding of products and organization interfaces.
  • Extended knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel. MS Access & MS Visio knowledge is a plus.
  • Familiar with Electrical design and Electrical drawing software.
  • Fluent in English (reading, speaking, listening).
