Director - Data Management, Data Operations

The Data Solutions division is the commercial data business of Moody’s Analytics, bringing together a vast catalogue of data to help business decision-makers assess risks and opportunities. We are best known for Orbis, the world’s most comprehensive database of public and private companies. We are also the definitive source of ratings-related data for companies and securities that have been rated by Moody’s Investors Service. Role/Responsibilities

As the Director Data Management, you will play a critical role in managing and optimizing our Data Operations team. You will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end data operations process, ensuring the availability, integrity, and accuracy of data on our flagship product Orbis, with a specific focus on the further development of our matching and mastering services. Your expertise in data management, leadership skills, and strategic thinking will drive the success of our data initiatives and support our objectives.

Key Responsibilities include:

Leadership : Lead and inspire a project team of Data Operations and potentially cross OU professionals, providing mentorship, guidance, and fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.

Matching services : Define and implement data matching and mastering services that align with the organization's objectives, ensuring the availability of accurate, consistent, and reliable data.

Master Data Management : Establish processes and methodologies to monitor, measure, and improve data quality across different data sources matching different data sets and master data to develop one source of truth.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting : Develop and maintain data quality metrics and performance indicators to monitor the effectiveness of data operations, producing regular reports and dashboards for key stakeholders.

Data Operations optimization : Continuously evaluate and enhance data operations processes, identifying opportunities to automate, streamline, and improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Data Governance: implement our data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure data quality.

Data Integration and ETL : Oversee the design and implementation of data integration and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to enable seamless data flow across systems, applications, and databases.

Key Partnerships and Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partnership with key teams and cross-functional teams in order to reach our business objectives. This includes partnering with

  • Sales, Content and Product Strategy to develop knowledge on our customer’s use cases, understand business requirements and priorities to reach our business objectives

  • Technology, to design and optimize data architecture, data model, and data pipeline

  • Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Management, Economics, Finance, or related major. A Master’s degree is a plus.

  • 10+ years working experience with proven experience in data operations, data management, and specifically in Master Data Management, Data Mastering and/or Data Matching service, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial capacity.

  • Familiarity with current Data Management tools and platforms

  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks, data management best practices, and industry standards.

  • Understanding of data architectures, data modeling, ETL processes, and data integration technologies.

  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team to achieve goals and objectives.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating with diverse stakeholders and presenting complex ideas in a clear and concise manner to support organizational decision-making

  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to recognize and comprehend complex issues, processes, and requirements regarding managing large data sets

  • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and operational efficiency through the application of technology and automation.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
