We are seeking a highly skilled & innovative  Biomanufacturing Process Engineer  ready to make significant contributions to join our dynamic biomanufacturing team at UCB's state-of-the-art facility in Braine-l'Alleud, Belgium. This role is essential in leveraging advanced process-oriented projects related to equipment and systems, integrating product, engineering, and automation components.

About the Role

As Biomanufacturing Engineer, your responsibilities will extend beyond oversight of routine operations to encompass strategic management of complex projects that enhance the interplay between product specifications, engineering precision, and sophisticated automation. You will play a key role in pioneering innovations and advancing the technology that underpins our biomanufacturing processes.

Who You Will Work With

You will be embedded in a team of experts in biomanufacturing, including specialists in bioprocess engineering, automation engineers, and product development scientists. Collaborating closely with these teams, you will drive improvements and ensure the seamless integration of new technologies and processes into our production line. Your role involves frequent interactions with project managers, quality assurance personnel, and external equipment suppliers, making effective communication and teamwork essential.

What You Will Do

  • Lead cutting-edge projects that integrate product, engineering, and automation elements to enhance system performance and reliability.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive project plans that detail budgets, timelines, and resource allocations, ensuring alignment with broader organizational goals.
  • Facilitate and lead project kick-off meetings, setting the stage for project objectives and expectations, and providing continuous leadership and direction to project teams.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for both internal teams and external stakeholders, fostering collaboration and ensuring that all project components align with technical and quality standards.
  • Proactively identify project risks and challenges, devising and implementing effective mitigation strategies to maintain project timelines and outcomes.
  • Employ your expertise to challenge existing protocols and champion innovative solutions that drive operational efficiency and technological advancement.

  • A master’s degree in Bioprocess Engineering, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a biomanufacturing environment, with a demonstrated track record in managing complex, multidisciplinary projects. We are looking for medior, senior & experts professionnals
  • Proven skills in project management, including familiarity with Operational Excellence methodologies such as Six Sigma; certification in Green, Orange, or Black Belt is highly regarded.
  • Extensive knowledge of automation systems, including proficiency with platforms like Delta V and Emerson, and a strong understanding of Critical Process Parameters (CPPs), Key Performance Parameters (KPPs), and other relevant process metrics.
  • Exceptional analytical skills to troubleshoot issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for effective collaboration across diverse teams and successful influence on decision-making processes.
  • Fluency in English and French, with a commitment to promoting a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the organization.
