  • About the role

    We are seeking a results-drivenR&D Engineer who will be responsible of conducting laboratory experiments on various filtering processes, such as polymer filtration, hot gas filtration, lube oil, and hydraulics filtration. Combine experimental findings with simulation and modeling activities. Provide technical and design support to Marketing and Application teams. Support experimental and simulation aspects of New Product Introduction (NPI) projects and customer inquiries. Perform laboratory-scale experiments throughout the project lifecycle, engaging with customers and stakeholders. Curiosity in additive manufacturing is advantageous but not mandatory.

     Your Impact asR&D Material Analysis & Simulation

  • To carry out laboratory experiments of various filtration processes and meantime support simulation and modeling activities. Execute delivery of projects on-time.
  • Perform simulations of filtration media in close collaboration with R&D, marketing,application colleagues and external partners in a structured project approach.
  • With the necessary creativity, translate findings to a performant and cost-effective designs and models. Support our product development from the moment you receive the request up to the implementation of the solution.
  • In all projects, a customer focused approach is crucial. You communicate clearly on results, timing, and cost with different stakeholders in the organization worldwide.
  • You can analyze the client’s question and assess if he needs a simple laboratory experiment/characterization or in case of simulation if a hand calculation or a more complex simulation is needed. It is your task to select the most efficient and accurate solution strategy, both experimental and modelling wise, to tackle the job.
  • You design or develop tests/DOE’s based on theoretical insights and well-founded assumptions.
  • The setting up of knowledge and expertise on additive manufacturing field can be an asset but is not a must.
  • You give technical assistance to R&D colleagues.
  • You work effectively with cross-functional teams (R&D, application, Marketing & Sales, Process Engineers, customers) to reach your project target.
  • About You

    Essential skills & competencies

  • You hold a Master's or Bachelor's degree in engineering or natural sciences domains.
  • You have experience or at least willingness to learn and execute filtration related laboratory experiments and take ownership of a wide range of state-of-the-art laboratory equipment.
  • You have experience or are eager to learn and execute simulation and modeling activities.
  • You are application and customer oriented.
  • You show the ability to think beyond the Bekaert know-how within your own technology domain.
  • You have a very good level of English and you use it to communicate in different ways.
  • You have a passion for excellence: apply project management, problem solving, product development consistently & proficiently in projects to solve problems in a systematic way.
  • You hold curiosity towards the field of additive manufacturing, which is an asset but not required.
  • You are self-driven with a strong attention to detail & accuracy and a strong team player.
