Your role:
As Global H&S Director you will provide an effective health & safety advisory and management service and will also advise and assist the business in meeting all its statutory health & safety responsibilities. Doing so, you will promote a culture of continual safety behavioral improvement.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Develop and deliver the Health and Safety plan for Cartamundi so there is a robust compliance framework which is appropriate and consistent with the relevant legislation and regulations.
Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a good working knowledge of all Health and Safety legislation and any industry relevant developments.
Provide positive strategic guidance and leadership relating to Health and Safety
Ensure working practices are safe and comply with legislation
To ensure risk assessments are carried out accurately, reviewed regularly and control measures are implemented appropriately, alongside the application of a continual improvement approach to reducing risks
Improve safety of the work environment across the business by increasing incident reporting to continually reduce accidents.
Foster an engaging continuous improvement culture relating to Health and Safety.
Continually develop and maintain a positive and pro-active H&S culture by coaching, influencing the leadership and enhancing H&S competency across all areas of the business.
Establish and maintain H&S systems and reporting including KPI’s, audits etc.
Lead in-house training with the leadership and employees about Health and Safety and associated risks
Take the lead and provide guidance and advice on a number of specialist areas including fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases
Lead and participate in projects as required to ensure they are completed on time in budget and to the right standards
Positively represent the company with external organisations, customers and suppliers so that standards are met as and when required
Embed and commit to Cartamundi’s values, policies, procedures and objectives and ensure that they are safe and comply with legislation
Your profile:
Our ideal candidate has the following experience and competences:
Natural, hands-on leader with excellent engaging and influencing capabilities to ensure successful implementation of a global health & safety approach in a complex, rapidly changing and growing environment
Minimum 10 years in health and safety position, preferably in an international, rapidly changing environment.
Good working knowledge of international health safety management systems and current legislation & best practice, knowledge of an environmental management system is a plus.
Highly organized and methodical approach with the ability to deal with complex, technical issues, analyse data and explain the results in simple terms
Excellent project management with the ability to analyse and present information clearly verbally, visually and in writing
Engaging communication style allowing you to effectively navigate throughout the organization, to align staff in different departments towards a common goal and to positively influence the different stakeholders
Entrepreneurial mindset combined with a pragmatic and down-to-earth mentality
Resilient through change, effective in dealing with ambiguity and with a strong sense of urgency
Fluency in English. Any other language is considered a plus
