Are you passionate about how data and analytics enable fact-based decision making and drive business success? Then you might be the ideal Business Intelligence Azure analyst Ontex is looking for!
We are looking for a business oriented Azure professional who acts as the BI-sherpa for the business stakeholders, based upon his/her experience and passion for data and analytics. You will work on our BI Azure stack which is integrated with the Enterprise BI environment (SAP BW on Hana). In this way, you will have a crucial role in the successful realization of Ontex’ Analytics strategy.

The Business Intelligence Azure analyst is responsible for performing advanced data analytics at scale and incorporating advanced analytics capabilities. They are the sherpa of the business on their journey from the traditional table-focused business intelligence reports towards state-of-the-art business intelligence applications (user friendly, qualitative and performant). As well as self-service BI capabilities, enabling them to gain quicker business insights and guide them in making factual based decisions. 

Main Tasks

  • Act as a true business partner on Business Intelligence, fulfilling an essential bridge function between the business stakeholders and IT on multiple business domains. You focus on maximizing the user adoption of the available BI solutions in order to realize the business value they can bring.
  • Collect the business requirements and describe these in clear functional specifications.
  • You are responsible to extend our Azure Data platform. 
  • Design the BI data model and reports/visualizations and guarantee these apply to the BI best practices in terms of architecture, data quality, performance and security (in collaboration with the Azure Data Engineer)
  • Realize the successful technical implementation, to deliver data driven insights. 
  • Participate actively in the day-to-day operations 
  • Drive the Self-Service Analytics as a key complimentary BI capability next to Enterprise BI, both from a solution as well as from a People & Processes point of view.
  • Assist colleagues by thinking in terms of “combining strengths” and “team”.
  • Follow up the technical and functional evolutions on Business Intelligence.

    • Background and Experience

  • University degree in Business Engineering, Business & Information Systems, Economics or equivalent based on experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with Power BI
  • Good Business Intelligence and data modeling know-how
  • Strong business acumen, with a specific focus on how Business Intelligence leads to better business insights as an enabler for improved business results
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with Azure and able to understand common data components like Data Lake, Data Factory, Synapse, Time Series, IoT Hub, Stream Analytics,... 
  • Experience with Databricks is a plus
  • Experience with Self-Service Analytics is a plus
  • Experience with Digital sources like Google Analytics, Facebook, … is a plus
  • Analytical mind and a flexible, pro-active and result driven attitude
  • Team player with excellent communication skills
  • Efficient planning and organizational skills
  • Excellent knowledge of English
